Liam Frankland- Photographer

The reason why I have chosen to look further into the photograph of Liam Frankland is because I find his photography work very moving and my first impressions were very positive. This is because the different ideas that he has used create a different emotion for each one. As well as the idea of using the aspect of depth in the majority of his work will help me gain ideas for when my portfolio leads into this aspect. Furthermore his photography work is very different as it doesn't just establish the idea of scale in a landscape. His work takes a section of the landscape and either creates a focus that is very close or creates a depth leading up to the focus.

This photograph was taken by the photographer Charlie Waite and the aspect of depth is shown in this photograph. This is because the technique depth of field has been used and by making the red flower in focus and the background blurred enhances this affect and makes it more obvious when viewing it. This photograph also used the technique selective colour and this is because the whole of the landscape as been edited to a shade of black and white to allow the deep red in the flowers to stand out. The technique selective colour is something that I find very interesting in a landscape photograph and will be something that I will use in my own landscape photography shoots when I come to editing. Furthermore the colour red has con nations of love and romance which is what this photograph affectively shows. In addition the low angle in this photograph creates the depth of the piece which allows the landscape in the background to appear very large in scale. This therefore also meets the aspect of scale which will be my starting point to my project aspects of landscape.

This photograph was also captured by the photographer Liam Frankland and shows the aspect of depth in this landscape. This photograph is a very good example at showing how Liam Frankland had captured a section of a landscape to make his work more interesting and different to look at. The idea of creating depth in this landscape has been done very well and what I especially like about this photograph is that in the blurred background the object is very bold still and creates a different perspective to depth which makes the blurred background as bold as the plants that are in focus and close up. Furthermore the benefit of taking the plants very close up allows the textures to stand out as the delicate and rough textures in the plants stand out and make this photograph more realistic to look at. In addition the composition of this photograph is very affective as the plants surround the blurred background allowing the contrast between natural and man made to be more obvious and stand out better.
This photograph was taken by the photographer Liam Frankland and this photograph shows the aspect of depth and scale in the landscapes. This is because the use of the technique depth of field has been used to enhance the scale of the landscape and to make the photograph more interesting to look at. The idea of the feather being the focused object on its own creates a message of loneliness. The feather being up close allows the textures to be seen much more detailed and clear this is because the furry texture seen much clearer allows the photograph to look more realistic and natural. The colours in this photograph are very duel and neutral however shows how the photographer Liam Frankland can use different tones and colours to create a stunning landscape photograph.

This photograph was captured by the photographer Liam Frankland and I feel is one of his most affective photographs at showing the aspect of depth in a landscape. This is because the depth in this photograph is enhanced through the length of the rope and by taking this photograph at an extremely low angle allows the boat to be enhanced in scale as it is seen much higher and larger. The black and white affect brings out all the tones in the wooden material as well as bringing out the hard and rough texture of the wood making the boat very old and abandoned. As well as the texture of the pebbles and stones on the ground highlighting the smooth texture of them leading up to the boat. Furthermore the sky in this photograph stands out and by Liam Frankland the photographer converting the sky to black and white allows the tones to be highlighted in the sky and the white clouds to stand out from this. I feel that this photograph is very influential to me and will be something I will look back on for ideas when I am in need of influence.

The influence that Charlie Waite has on my aspects of landscape project is that in his work he used the technique selective colour and this is something that doesn't appear in many of the landscape photographers I have looked further into. Therefore this technique and the way he uses it will influence my own work and will allow me to see how affective he has used it to use it in mine. I am also influenced in the way he only uses one object to create his depth of field showing the simplicity in his work however it looking very bold and affective overall.

To summarise the research and analysation that I have done to look further into Liam Frankland's work is that all his work focuses more on the technique of depth of field rather than the the tones and colours which I found more in the other photographers I looked into. Therefore his work will help me develop my skill of depth of field and make mine look more bold and complex by seeing what angle he had taken his from and what landscapes work better using the technique depth of field. I overall found all this research into his photography very helpful and will use his influence a lot in my aspects of landscape photography.
